Coaches are turning to positionless basketball in today's game, which typically features a free-flowing offense with cutting and ghost screens.
Teams are not using screens off the ball as much as rely on creating gaps to create shots for your shooters.
In today’s newsletter, I'm going to share with you some actions to add to your “5 out” to get your shooter shots if they are being denied or face guarded these are simple adds to put into your coaching toolbox.
5 out Wide Series
The Wide Series is typically out of 2 sided break in transition and the trailing player sets a wide screen for the play in the stretch spot (wing). You can run various actions off this based on how the defense guards it but this is the core action.
Wide Chase
If you don’t have a shot of the cored Wide Series screen away action, then you can get into “chase” with your PG following the pass and then playing spread 5 out ball screen.
Wide Keep
This is a counter read off the “chase action” if teams like to switch Dribble Handoffs (DHO) then you can fake and keep and get downhill.

Using double staggers out of 5 out
Pg in this will dribble up the alley and the trailer and stretch spot will set staggers for your shooter(s) in the corner.

Stagger Curl
This action can be a read or call off the stagger series if they are chasing your shooter, they should “curl and do it off the first screen or second. If a player curls off screen you need to have a player come back to the ball.

Free Clinic - Sunday, Feb 19 at 9 pm EST
Topic: Horns Over Series
What is the Horns Over Series?
It is an action that uses a cross-screen (Iverson action) where the player cuts over and out off of it.
Why the Horns Over Series? You need to get the ball to your best player? They are being denied the ball and you need to get them free. You want to take advantage of a team that switches
In this clinic, I will be sharing ways to use this, counters, and quick hitters out of this action.

Another effected Wide action is Wide Dribble. Alabama & Milwaukee run it a lot. Great way to get to the second and third side of the floor to create an advantage.
