Adding Gets to your Drive and Kick Offense
I have been looking at “Gets” as an alternative to using ball screens. In today’s newsletter we are going to explore various ways you can add a Get to your drive and kick offenses.
What is a Get?
It is a pass and follow your pass to receive a pass back and now you play a 2 man game with the player receiving the get. The receiver can hand it off or keep it. You can run this action with guards, wings, and or posts and I feel it is a safer action to prevent the dreaded illegal screen call.
Here are various ways I feel that would be simple adds for you to incorporate into your team’s drive and kick philosophy.
Chase 2 and 3 are ways to run it with your PG initiating the Get action with your corner players in your offense
Chase 4 and 5 are great for forward types or another guard as well in the 4 spot
Let’s take a look at a couple of examples of a team running Get actions that flow into Drive and Kick principles
