Positive and Negatives of Running the System
When you host clinics on the System. I get questions all the time what are positive and negatives of running it.
Paul Westhead would tell you, you will either “win a championship or get fired!”
After doing podcasts and hosting coaches on the Grinnell Style system the first reason to run it was not necessarily to win games. It was installed at Grinnell to get more participation and bring excitement to a program that had struggled at a small school D 3 college in Iowa.
Style of play whether it be the Grinnell, Olivet, LMU, or a hybrid version everyone asks what are the positives and negatives of running the System.
Sunday Night 4/18 at 9 pm EST I have girls High School Coach Brandon Thomas of Pickens High School coming to discuss with you his positives and negatives of running the true Grinnell System and or a Hybrid Version. Coach Thomas has been running a form of the System for the past two seasons and he has done both.

Positives of the System
Your team will be exciting to watch
You control the pace of the game
You will seldom face a set defense
The opponent has to prepare for you
Your team will have an “identity”
I had Coach Thomas on the Baskipedia Podcast discussing his first season at Pickens High School. Check out that episode here
