Why do you teach kickups last?
Hey Coach,
A question I got from a coach after our 1-night event when he heard me say I teach drops first in the dribble drive motion offense was, “Why do you teach kickups last?”.
I teach kickups last because I feel your players will do it naturally you don’t have to teach it. They will just run to the wing and want the ball. So I chose in my teaching methodology to start teaching kickups last, and I have noticed my teams have gotten better at going backdoor earlier in the season.
Teaching players to make the read and cut backdoor is harder. I also feel it is not done enough. So when I teach the drop zone reads, I teach kickups last.
Kurt and I did a one-night event on the Dribble Drive Motion where we went over the basics, transition into DDM, zone ideas, and quick hitters. If you missed out on that, you can catch the replay here. (scroll up a little and click the play button on the video)
We also offered our DDM A to Z Course.
Dribble Drive Motion A to Z is a comprehensive online course that covers all the fundamental elements of the offense in detail.
This course is designed for coaches of any level of basketball, from introducing the offense to a third grader to explaining how to run it at the highest level of the game.
This course features 13 instructional videos, hundreds of diagrams, and all the additional materials you need to install the offense.
Can get the Course and bonus items till Friday, Sept 30 for $99 dollars
If you can help me out? I am planning my next special event in October on 5 out offense. Let me know in the poll below what 5 out offenses you want you want me to breakdown?
